Award Winning “Composing Kids,” FIlm and music in education
Composing Kids is a creative arts program that is designed to engage our youth in a medium that is prominent in today's culture, video. Kids are asked to think critically to add an audio dimension to a short film in the way of a score or soundtrack. Kids in the program will create an original score to an animated film shared with the Rock River Philharmonic from one of the participants of the Beloit International Film Fest. The program creates an opportunity for area musical teachers to partner with the RRP to bring added resources (musicians, staff) and broader context to the classroom. Composing Kids creates a partnership within the community that gives our children an otherwise unattainable level of learning and hands on experience with both video and musical arts.
